Fashion Doll Quarterly Magazine
Winter 2010: Rarities
Another year older, another year wiser. This issue marks our seventh anniversary of Fashion Doll Quarterly.
Moving on to bigger and better...You may notice when you get your latest copy of Fashion Doll Quarterly that there are two different covers. One, featuring Devon full-length, has been shipped to our subscribers. This is a limited edition cover. The other is a head shot that is more of a tease to catch your eye from the newsstands. We noticed that magazines like Harper's Bazaar and TV Guide do these alternate covers, and we liked the different looks they created as well as the buzz over the cover subjects featured.
Devon is a new sculpt with a new body. She has elegant Eurasian features, a couture level ensemble and a fabulous wig by PattaArt.
You may have also noticed that we have a new masthead. When we first started, FDQ was always on the back shelf in Barnes & Noble and Borders. We realized that new readers couldn't possibly even know what kind of magazine we were by letters alone. Now as we have moved up on the shelf, we decided to spell it out! The new masthead is more akin to our book cover for In Focus: A Guide To Digital Photography for the Doll Collector. We like the clean type and the emphasis on fashion dolls. And with Devon on the cover, the emphasis is really on fashion!
On the inside you will notice some changes as well. We have retired the Horoscope and Patchat, TrixieTini and Sightings. Zoe is retiring and getting married! We are adding more profiles, more news and more gorgeous photography to make each reading of FDQ a fashion doll extravaganza as we head into our eighth year. And that includes features on FICONDOLL and Robert Tonner's new Ann Harper, and lots of convention coverage, along with a fun tutorial on casting heads.
As always, there are the fantastic photos of Alex Forbes, Maryann Roy and Denise Jefferson, along with articles by Terri Gold, Ian Price, Paul Bruce and Amanda Arnold.
In the mean time, FDQ is heading to Japan on October 7th to visit beautiful Kyoto, home of Volks, Inc. We think you will enjoy this in-depth coverage of a wonderful and creative doll company that has literally changed the art of collecting.
