DOLL READER / HAUTE DOLL
DECEMBER/JANUARY 2011
Doll Reader joins renowned doll artist Hildegard Günzel in celebrating the artist’s 40th year in doll making. We’ll talk to the artist about her work and highlight some of her favorite pieces through the years. This month’s issue is also our vintage-inspired issue where we’ll rediscover dolls from the 1950s that are being reproduced today like Betsy Wetsy, Toni, and Miss Revlon; we’ll explore the best of Madame Alexander’s vintage high-heeled dolls like Cissy and Cisette; and we’ll take a closer look at our favorite vintage gal, Betsy McCall. Also in this issue:
- Make a winter hat, coat, and muff for Riley.
- Lots of holiday gift ideas + win an American Girl doll OR a Cabbage Patch Kid Sports Girl!
- Karen Reilly’s Sonja Henie paper doll
- Haute Doll brings you the season’s coolest winter doll hats, scarves, and coats … for dolls!
Digital Edition Only: - “I would rather learn from a book than take a class,” says Canadian artist Dale Zentner. “My father always insisted we figure things out for ourselves, and I do think trial and error lends itself to creativity.” Read more about Zentner’s journey into doll-making in this month’s digital edition, how she recently started creating BJDs, and her first doll created for reproduction.
