Frankie Stein
Frankie Stein is the 15-day-old daughter of Frankenstein's Monster and his bride. She has waist-length black and white hair and has heterochromia (her right eye is blue and her left one is green). Frankie's fashion sense revolves mostly around blue plaid prints and schoolgirl style. In "Miss Infearmation," Frankie has developed a crush on Jackson, unconcerned that he is a normie. However, in the next episode, "Hyde and Shriek," she is blushing near Holt, unaware that he and Jackson are one and the same. After the stress both Holt and Jackson placed on her after they learned that they are, in fact, the same person, Frankie has placed her relationship with both on pause. Her latest diary mentions a gargoyle football player with a Scottish accent, known only by his jersey number, which is 7. Her pet is named Watzit, who is put together from several different animals, but most resembles a domesticated dog. She is voiced by Kate Higgins.
Draculaura
Draculaura is the daughter of Count Dracula. She is 1,599 years old with black and pink hair. Draculaura is a vegan vampire who abstains from drinking blood and eating meat; in fact, the mere mention of the word "blood" causes her to faint. Draculaura's taste in fashion is influenced by the Japanese Lolita style, and is typically in shades of pink and black. She has had many crushes in the short while the franchise has been out, but her current boyfriend is Clawd Wolf, Clawdeen's older brother. She is a member of the Fearleading Squad with Frankie, Clawdeen, and Cleo. She has a pet bat named Count Fabulous. Draculaura is voiced by Debi Derryberry.
Clawdeen Wolf
Clawdeen is the daughter of the Werewolf. She is 15 years old and comes from a rather large family. Her BFFs are Frankie Stein and Draculaura, whose father sometimes objects when Clawdeen visits her. Clawdeen complains about Howleen, her younger sister, with whom she shares a bunk bed, because Howleen is constantly chewing on Clawdeen's shoes, borrowing her clothes and getting them dirty, and wiping her nose on Clawdeen's jackets. Clawdeen, who loves leopard prints and open-toed pumps, is considered the fashionista of the group. Because her hair grows unnaturally quickly, she is constantly having to shave her legs. Clawdeen has trouble keeping her werewolf side in check; this side of her can emerge at the sight of a full moon or any other similarly bright light source. This phenomenon is showcased in the episode "Talon Show." Clawdeen dreams of owning her own fashion design brand, plays on the soccer team, and, in the webisodes, enjoys track and field. Clawdeen does not like Cleo, because Clawdeen incorrectly thought that Cleo had cheated on Clawd with Deuce Gorgon. After Clawd explains to Clawdeen that his breakup with Cleo was, in fact, mutual, Clawdeen and Cleo become frenemies soon after. In the doll diaries, Clawdeen seems to not be fond of the idea of Draculaura and Clawd dating, but she eventually warms up to the two as a couple. She has a purple pet cat named Crescent. She is voiced by Salli Saffioti.
Lagoona Blue
Lagoona Blue is the daughter of the Sea Monster. Lagoona is a transfer student from down under the sea and speaks with an Australian accent. Lagoona's mother is an ocean nymph who cannot leave her grotto without becoming ill. It is possible this mixed heritage has enabled Lagoona to breathe both below and above water. Lagoona is widely liked by the student body for her kindness and good advice. Lagoona is the captain of the school's swim team and can even surf the roughest waves in platform sandals. She is dating her fellow teammate, Gillington "Gil" Webber. The two are happy together, but Gil is a freshwater monster whose parents do not want him to consort with a seawater girl. Lagoona is deeply upset when Gil's parents have him transferred to an underwater school, but Gil is shown to have returned to Monster High in "Here Comes Treble." Lagoona prefers to dress in a tank and baggy shorts, but will get dressed up for special occasions. Her pet is a pink piranha named Neptuna. She is voiced by Laura Bailey.
Cleo de Nile
Cleo de Nile is the daughter of the Mummy. She is 5,842 years old. Her clothing motif typically involves wrappings and streaks of real gold in her hair. Cleo took over as fearleading captain when her older sister, Nefera, graduated. Cleo does not get along with Nefera because Nefera uses every opportunity she can to humiliate her younger sister. Cleo is considered stuck up, but will always help her friends, if necessary. In the first season, she was the main antagonist, but, in the second season, her attitude was slowly softened and she was portrayed as one of the protagonists. Cleo has a turquoise pet cobra named Hissette and can even talk to snakes and get them to do what she says. However, she refuses to manipulate her boyfriend, Deuce, with this ability. In the book, her full name is Cleopatra. Cleo is voiced by Salli Saffioti.
Ghoulia Yelps
Ghoulia is the daughter of a zombie couple. She is 16 in monster years and has a pet baby blue owl named Sir Hoots-A-Lot. The smartest ghoul at Monster High, Ghoulia is a shy and bookish girl, but her best friend, Cleo de Nile, refuses to let her be the wallflower at a party. Ghoulia's social life has improved greatly since befriending Cleo. Ghoulia has a romantic interest in Slow-Moe, a tall male zombie on the chess team. Ghoulia is well-known to be a hardcore fan of "Dead Fast," an in-universe comic book series. She is voiced by a producer of the Monster High webisodes, Audu Paden. Her normie name is Julia Phelps.
Deuce Gorgon
Deuce is the son of the gorgon Medusa. Like his mother, he has snakes for hair, which he styles in a "snakehawk." He is 16 years old and hopes to get his driver's license soon. A member of the casketball team, Deuce loves to cook and is quite a skilled chef, but he is too self-conscious to showcase his culinary prowess to anyone. Deuce inherited his mother's ability to turn people into stone, though he has been able to control the effect so that it lasts for only about 24 hours. In "Hiss-teria", he reveals that petrified his first pet, a dragon named Smokey, when he was a young boy and the effect has lingered to the present day. Deuce is dating Cleo, who seems to always find new ways for him to spend all his money on her. Despite that, Deuce genuinely loves Cleo and wrote a song to express his feelings for her. His pet is a two-tailed rat which he named Perseus, after someone Medusa clashed with in her past. Understandably, Medusa is not amused. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Monster High Students
Holt Hyde
Holt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde. He thinks he is 16 years old. Highly expressive and extremely passionate about music, Holt is the alter ego of Jackson Jekyll and, until "Dueling Personality," is unaware of his other half. He only appears at night and has never seen the sun, despite his best efforts. Recent information implies the transformation might be related to loud music, or is just another way to make it occur. In the books, he is known by DJ Hyde and only appears when the temperature is high. The books provide more background on Jackson and DJ as their mother explains they are actually the grandsons of the original Dr. Jekyll. The tonic, however, combined with his DNA and was passed down to his descendants. Jackson and Holt's father was driven mad from this and is in an asylum. In the second book, he learns about his alter ego through Melody and Brett's documentary on RADs. He has a pet chameleon named Crossfade, who, when around Holt, is red. Holt makes his first appearance in "Hyde and Shriek." He is distressed to learn that Jackson is his other half in "Dueling Personality," calling Jackson a normie and a dork. Holt is voiced by Cindy Robinson.
Jackson Jekyll
The son of Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Jekyll, and the first human character within the original doll franchise. The website lists him as Deuce Gorgon's best friend. According to Deuce's diary, they met when Deuce went to play casketball. In the doll diaries, Jackson had a short-lived relationship with Draculaura, who grew tired of Jackson not showing up to their dates at night. The webisodes introduced a relationship with Frankie Stein, but is currently on pause because of his issues with his alter ego, Holt Hyde. Jackson only shows up during the day. Recent information implies the transformation might be related to loud music, or is just another way to make it occur. His first webisode appearance is in "Fear Pressure," where he is shown to be the only normie on campus and the cousin of Heath Burns. His being human makes him a constant target for bullies. In the books, he and Melody are a couple and he becomes aware of his alter ego, DJ Hyde, through Melody's recording of the transformation. In the lost chapter in the first Monster High novel, it is revealed he probably helped Ghoulia in illustrating her Dead Fast fan comic. Like Holt, his pet is a chameleon named Crossfade; Crossfade is tan and green when Jackson is the dominant entity. In "Dueling Personality," Jackson is repulsed to learn that Holt is his "loud" alter ego. He is voiced by Cindy Robinson.
Heath Burns
Heath is a teenaged fire-elemental. He was first seen as a background character in "Substitute Creature." In "The Hot Boy", he was shown to be Draculaura's short-lived crush. Heath has since become a regular character in the webisodes, and the character has been trademarked for a doll.[1] In "Fear Pressure," he mentions that Jackson is his normie cousin, a possible reference to when many fans confused Heath for Holt Hyde. Heath's first mention in the dolls' continuity is in Abbey's diary where he is constantly hitting on her with corny one-liners. Heath primarily serves as the comedy relief, being the butt of many physical jokes and the class clown. In the first novel, Heath appears to be a normie (human). In Book 2, "The Ghoul Next Door," this Heath is revealed to be a RAD when he sneezes fire. He explains that his ability appeared when he turned 15. Starting out as gassy outbursts, Heath's ability is still developing. In season 1 of the webisodes, Heath was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, but as of Season 2, he is voiced by Cam Clarke.
Spectra Vondergeist
The daughter of the ghosts. She is 16 years old and has a ball-and-chain motif. She can float through walls and has an uncanny ability to hear everyone's gossip. Spectra loves to be free and unbound to normal conventions. She prides herself on being sweet, like her favorite food, angel food cake, and getting the truth out to everyone about the ins and outs of Monster High. She writes the column "Oh My Oracle" for the school newspaper and does so anonymously so that her name is not linked to any possibly bad advice. Spectra believes she comes from a very noble family, until Ghoulia finds an old newspaper article that reveals the truth, which she promises to keep secret. What Spectra's family did in the previous life is unknown, but the memory breaks her heart. Her first episode mention/appearance is in "Miss Infearmation," when she is known only as "The Ghostly Gossip." She makes a full appearance in "Ghostly Gossip". Her pet is a ghost ferret named Rhuen. Spectra appears in the third Monster High novel, where she meets Billy Phaidin and surprises him with her own powers of invisibility. She is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald.
Abbey Bominable
The 16-year-old daughter of the Yeti, Abbey is an exchange student from up north. She is described as a ghoul with white hair streaked with blue, purple, and pink and topped with a fuzzy headband. Her family is good friends with Headless Headmistress Bloodgood; because of this, Abbey lives with Bloodgood while she attends Monster High. Her first webisode appearance is in "Back-to-Ghoul." Abbey's native language is Yetish and though she can understand English fairly well, she has difficulty grasping slang terms. In the webisodes, she speaks with a Russian accent. Abbey's speech is very direct, which can and is often misinterpreted to be insensitive and mean. She explains that her style of speech is a function of her culture. Abbey is a sweet girl with a good sense of humor, but her height and strength tends to intimidate people. The Fearbook lists her as captain of the snowboarding team. In her diary, she writes about Heath Burns using corny pick-up lines to try to get a date with her. She takes pleasure in ignoring Heath, but decides that she will accept his request for a date once he asks her properly. Her pet is a baby woolly mammoth whose name is Shiver. Abbey is mentioned in the third Monster High novel as one of the names on a petition campaigning to help Mrs. J get her job back. She is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald
Operetta
Operetta is the 16-year-old daughter of the Phantom of the Opera. She was born in France, but raised in New Orleans, Louisiana where her father haunted a river-boat. Because of this, she speaks with a thick Southern drawl. Her family moved to Monster High as part of a job to fix an old opera theater that is within the school's catacombs. Her diary is unique in that it is written as a letter to her guitar teacher and friend, Fynn. Operetta has red hair, wears rockabilly-styled clothing, and a music note mask over her left eye. She is a talented musician like her father, but her voice is only safe to listen to on a recording. She has a recording studio underneath the catacombs. Operetta was first mentioned in Holt's diary where the two go on a date. Operetta is mentioned again when Spectra spreads a rumor that Deuce is cheating on Cleo with Operetta; in reality, Operetta was merely assisting Deuce with writing a song for Cleo. Operetta makes her first webisode appearance in "Hiss-teria." Her pet is a spider named Memphis "Daddy-O" Longlegs. She is voiced by Gigi Sarroino.
Clawd Wolf
Son of the Werewolf, Clawd is Clawdeen's and Howleen's 17-year old brother. Clawd is frequently mentioned in the diaries that come with the dolls and made his first webisode appearance in "Fur Will Fly." According to Ghoulia's diary, Clawd dated Cleo up until the day before she started dating Deuce. Clawd is the BMOC (Big Monster on Campus) and plays on the casketball team with Deuce. In the second wave of dolls, Draculaura has developed a crush on him. At first, he thought of her as a friend, but they have started dating. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in season one and Ogie Banks III in season two. He owns a pet gargoyle bulldog named Rockseena. In the book series, his normie name is Claude.
Moe 'Slow-Moe' Deadovitch
Slow-Moe occasionally shows up in webisodes and his first appearance was in "Cyrano De Ghoulia" as Ghoulia's crush. Like Ghoulia, he only speaks the in-universe zombie language, which sounds like grunts and moans to those who do not understand it. Slow-Moe reciprocates Ghoulia's feelings, but has another zombie boy as a rival for her affections. Slow-Moe often plays a role in certain webisodes unrelated to his girlfriend, unlike most of the male characters. Slow-Moe is a member of the chess team, whose membership comprises of mostly zombies. He does not like Heath's guitar playing and swiftly punches out Heath's guitar after hearing one chord. His full name was revealed in the Monster High video game. Slow-Moe is voiced by Audu Paden.
Gillington "Gil" Webber
Gil is the son of a river monster and is Lagoona's boyfriend. He was first introduced in the webisode "Blue Lagoona" and has made recurring appearances since. Gil is one of the top members on the swim team alongside Lagoona. When on land, Gil has to wear a tank full of water over his head in order to breathe, though "Hatch Me If You Can" and the Gloom Beach arc shows that he can be on land for a short period of time without it. Gil reciprocates Lagoona's feelings, but his parents disapprove of their relationship because Lagoona is a saltwater monster, while the Webber family is from freshwater. In "Back-to-Ghoul," Lagoona is upset at having found out that Gil's parents transferred him to another school, ostensibly to separate the couple. In "Here Comes Treble," Gil has apparently returned to Monster High. His first doll is part of the 2012 beach line, Skull Shores. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Toralei Stripe
Toralei is 15 years old, and on the first of her nine lives. She is an orange werecat who was introduced in the webisode "Scream Building," along with two other werecats, the twins Purrsephone[2] and Meowlody. Toralei, who hates to be rubbed the wrong way, is extremely catty and justifies her attitude by stating that it is her desire to see cause-and-effect. She was a fearleader until she and the rest of the fearleaders, except Frankie, grew tired of Cleo's perfectionism and quit. She later tries to rejoin, but is rejected. Cleo's most recent diary reveals that Toralei, Purrsephone, and Meowlody are on the squad because of the influence of her older sister, Nefera, who apparently keeps in touch with the trio after having graduated. Toralei's diary reveals why she harbors ill will towards Cleo; Toralei had helped Cleo practice her gymnastics skills to help her make the fearleading squad, which Cleo never thanked her for. To add insult to injury, Nefera named Cleo the new captain of the fearleading team over Toralei, who was expecting to be chosen. Despite her extreme dislike of Cleo, Toralei refuses to resort to using dirty tricks to ensure that her fearleading squad beats Cleo's in competition. Toralei's doll has a tail, unlike her depiction in the webisodes. On the front cover of the diary, it states "Better have nine lives if I catch you reading my diary." Her pet is a baby saber-toothed tiger cub named Sweet Fang. She is voiced by America Young.
Purrsephone and Meowlody
Purrsephone and Meowlody are twin werecat sisters who are Toralei's best friends. Both have dark gray fur; the hair on Puursephone's head is predominantly black, and the hair on Meowlody's head is predominantly white. Though they do not dress exactly alike, their clothes are stylistically similar. They used to have a pet canary, but one of them turned out to be allergic and had to give the bird away. The twins are annoyed by the assumption that, because they are twins, they think alike. Neither twin has yet spoken any lines on her own in the webisodes; most of their speech has been occasional meowing and purring, and chiming in with Toralei. These occasional vocalizations are performed by America Young.
Nefera de Nile
At age 5,845, Nefera is Cleo's older sister by three years. She is cold-hearted, self-centered, and contemptuous towards most other monsters. The otherwise haughty Cleo admits to feeling insecure around her. Nefera is the main antagonist in the second season. She enjoys making life miserable for Cleo and takes pleasure in humiliating her younger sister at every turn. Nefera is first mentioned in Clawd's diary and her first webisode mention is in "Miss Infearmation." Her first webisode appearance is in "Hyde and Shriek." Nefera was the fearleading squad captain until she graduated from Monster High, but in spite of this, Nefera continues to manipulate the squad's activities, solely to make life difficult for Cleo. She had Toralei, Purrsephone, and Meowlody reinstated to the squad after they quit, and demands that Cleo keep them on. For some time after graduation, Nefera worked as a model, which only served to further heighten Cleo's feelings of inferiority towards her. Nefera's diary reveals that she actually suffers from an inferiority complex so severe that if she feels that someone is insulting her in the slightest, she breaks down and passes out. Her pet is a scarab beetle named Azura. She is voiced by Wendee Lee.
Manny Taur
Son of the Minotaur. Manny has appeared in the background of many Monster High webisodes in season 2, making his debut in the foreground in "Miss Infearmation." In both the webisodes and doll diaries, he is portrayed as a bully. In Abbey's diary, he is picking on Howleen, Clawdeen's little sister, and in the webisode, he is picking on Jackson. In the first season 3 webisode, "Dodgeskull," Manny and other monsters refuse to pick Slow-Moe or any other zombies for their dodgeskull team, which infuriates Ghoulia. Manny has a sister named Minnie who, according to Frankie, does not approve of her brother's behavior. He has been trademarked for a doll from before his first webisode appearance.[3] He is voiced by the animated series producer Audu Paden.
Hoo-Dude
Hoo-Dude is a voodoo doll that Frankie made in "Hoo-doo You Like?" when her friends insist on meeting the boyfriend that, in a misguided attempt to fit in, she claims that she has. Hoo-Dude was at first an inanimate doll, but when Frankie tossed him aside after her friends assure her that it was okay for her to not have a boyfriend, he sprang to life, crying over their "break-up." He returns in "Ghostly Gossip," still pining for Frankie. Heartbroken that she had shifted her interest to Jackson Jekyll/Holt Hyde, he beats on his chest in anguish, causing boys in his immediate vicinity to suddenly double over with intense chest pains. Hoo-Dude can apparently only physically affect teenage boys near him; this is evidenced when Van Helscream, an adult male, is not affected when he fixes one of Hoo-Dude's stitches in "Fright On!" He is voiced by Cam Clarke.
Howleen Wolf
Howleen is Clawd and Clawdeen's younger sister at the age of 14. Howleen considers her sense of style as "were-punk", but Clawdeen characterizes Howleen's style as "like she got dressed in the dark." She shares a room with Clawdeen and is constantly borrowing Clawdeen's clothes without asking. Howleen displays puppy behavior such as chewing on Clawdeen's shoes and even wipes her nose on her sister's jackets. Howleen becomes friends with Abbey after Abbey comes to her defense when she is being bullied by Manny. Howleen's first appearance was in the Nickelodeon special "Fright On!" The special deals with Howleen's struggle in wanting to find her own identity apart from her brother and sister. A promo picture revealing her doll was released on Facebook. She has a pet hedgehog named Cushion. She is voiced by America Young.
Scarah Screams
Scarah is the daughter of a banshee. She appears in the background of many webisodes. Scarah has white eyes with no pupils, green skin, and jet black hair styled in a bouffant flip. She was one of three characters (the other two being the Headless Headmistress and the Daughter of Arachne) in the running to be the next new Monster High character to debut as a doll; Mattel conducted a ballot poll at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International to determine which character would receive the honor. On August 11, 2011, the official Monster High Facebook page announced that Scarah received the most votes in the poll. The Scarah Screams prototype doll was unveiled at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International, and the official doll is to be released in 2012.
C.A. Cupid
The Daughter of Eros. Her age is "as old as teenage love." She only goes by the initials C.A. because her full name is too long and difficult to pronounce. Just as her father serves as the god of love for humans, C.A. takes on a similar role for monsters. Unlike her father, though, she is a terrible archer. To make up for her subpar archery skills, C.A. is great at giving relationship advice and hosts a radio talk show in the catacombs of Monster High. She would like to have a pet, but is unable to make up her mind as to what to choose for one. She is voiced by Erin Fitzgerald.
The Daughter of Arachne
The Daughter of Arachne has no other known name. She has thus far only been shown in doll form, debuting as such at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con International. The Daughter of Arachne has black skin, brilliant red hair, and six spindly arms. Mattel conducted a poll to determine whether she, Scarah Screams, or the Headless Headmistress would be the next Monster High character to be produced as a doll. The poll results determined Scarah Screams to be the winner by a slim margin over the Daughter of Arachne. Whether the Daughter of Arachne doll will be produced in spite of the poll results remains to be seen.
Valentine
A vampire boy who will be introduced in the Monster High special Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love, which premiers February 12, 2012 on Nickelodeon. From what is revealed in the trailer, he dated Draculaura sometime in the past and claims to have made her birthday a special holiday that he named after himself (i.e. Valentine's Day). Valentine returns to Monster High and steals Draculaura away from Clawd.
Monster High Teachers
Headless Headmistress Bloodgood
Based on the Headless Horseman, Bloodgood is in charge of the students at Monster High. Like her name implies, she can take off her head whenever it pleases her. Bloodgood is a strict teacher, known for giving out tons of homework. She rides her night-mare throughout the school halls and will use horse analogies when she feels it is appropriate. Bloodgood is a good friend of Abbey's parents and lets Abbey stay at her home during the school week. A Headless Headmistress Bloodgood doll prototype was revealed at SDCC 2011 as part of a poll to select the next doll. The doll's traits included a detachable head and a taller body, compared to the female students. The Bloodgood doll did not win the poll; whether it will still be released is unknown. She is voiced by Laura Bailey.
Mr. "Hack" Hackington
He is the teacher in the webseries that is based on Leatherface. Mr. Hack is the Mad Science teacher. He enjoys seeing a look of disappointment on his students' faces whenever an opportunity can present itself. Lagoona's Mad Science Survival Guide mentions he also tends to spend most of the class talking about stories of his time with other Mad Scientists and these always end up on his end of the week tests. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Mr. Where
Mr. Where is The Invisible Man who can also make his bandages become invisible. He is the drama teacher at the school, but also seems to be in charge of the debate team in the webseries. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Mr. Lou Zarr
Lou Zarr was the substitute teacher in "Substitute Creature" and appears in the television special "New Ghoul @ School." He is a strict normie teacher who refuses to take any nonsense from his students, and when the class cannot remember where in the textbook they left off during the previous lecture, he decides to begin his lesson from the beginning of the book. Mr. Zarr's full name is a source of mirth for the students because it sounds very much like "loser," which is what they perceive him to be. He is turned to stone when he demands that Deuce Gorgon take off his sunglasses and Deuce complies. He was voiced by Troy Baker.
Mr. Rotter
Mr. Rotter is the Dead Languages teacher, but he was alive when they were actually being spoken. He is a tough teacher who never gives his students A's. He was wary of the fearleading squad when Toralei kept setting them up to look like they would be pulling pranks on the graduating class. He is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
Ms. Kindergrubber
Ms. Kindergrubber is the Home Ick teacher. Frankie Stein's Survival Guide to Home Ick states that she likes the students to copy her recipes the exact same way she does. The one exception is Deuce Gorgon; he is the only student whose cooking she will eat without question. Because she does not like to check oven temperatures, Ms. Kindergrubber is quite possibly the witch from Hansel and Gretel.
Book Exclusive Characters
These are characters exclusive to Lisi Harrison's "Monster High" novels. The books take place at Merston High in Salem, Oregon and deals with the RADS (Regular Attribute Dodgers)/monsters trying to cope with living in a normie (human) world.
Melody Carver
Melody is the co-protagonist of the Monster High novels. She and her family are from Beverly Hills and moved to Salem, Oregon to help with Melody's asthma. Melody has just recovered from rhinoplasty that was meant to help her with her breathing, but is implied to have been mostly to please her parents' family image. Melody's family is neighbors with Jackson Jekyll, whom Melody eventually dates. Melody is the one who reveals the truth behind Jackson's blackouts through a recording on her iPhone. Unfortunately, she forgets to delete it and it gets in the hands of Bekka Madden, a RAD hater and primary antagonist of the series. This video leads to the RADs community becoming exposed, Melody forming the NUDIs (Normies Uncool with Discriminating Idiots), and a documentary on their secret lives. At the end of the second novel, Melody learns from Manu, Cleo's father's aide, that she might be the daughter of Marina, a siren. This is confirmed at the end of the third novel. Melody develops the ability to persuade people to do whatever she asks with her voice. She also grows olive and blue feathers with gold tips. This inspires her to make a dress and jewelry out of them.
Billy Phaidin
Billy Phaidin is the son of The Invisible Man. Billy is the RAD who made Salem aware of the monster community after a 60 year hiatus of a RAD sighting. It is implied that his invisibility developed later in his life, similar to Heath's fire breathing. Billy, much like his predecessor, can only be seen if he wears clothing and make-up. Billy dresses up as Frankie to appease Bekka's demands to get Jackson's transformation video back. It fools Bekka, but fails to solve the problem thanks to Brett's poor timing. In "Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way," Candace helps Billy become visible with a spray-tan. Billy has a one-sided crush on Frankie. Near the ending of "Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way" Billy meets Spectra Vondergeist, who she admits that she had liked him since eighth grade.
Brett Redding
Brett is a normie who attends Merston High. At the beginning of the series, he is dating Bekka Madden. In the first novel, he is hunting monsters after the sighting of a "green alien," who turns out to be Frankie. It is revealed later that he is fascinated by monsters. Brett kisses Frankie at the Monster Mash and accidentally detaches her head, sending shockwaves throughout his body. He ends up in a coma until the beginning of the second novel. When Brett wakes up, during live TV, he breaks up with Bekka and wants to find the mystery girl from the dance. Brett joins the NUDIs with Melody, and the two decide to make a documentary to show normies that RADs are just regular people as well. Brett is also dating Frankie and friends with Heath before anyone knew he was a RAD.
Bekka Madden
Bekka is the primary antagonist of the Monster High novels. She befriends Melody at first due to a common dislike of Cleo de Nile. Bekka wants Brett all to herself, even forcing Melody to sign a contract that she won't make any moves on Brett. Bekka discovers the video of Jackson transforming into DJ Hyde and uses this as blackmail for Melody to get Frankie, the girl who kissed Brett and put him in a coma. Within the allotted time frame, Melody brings a disguised Billy to Brett's hospital room. Bekka is fool and pleased with the turning in of the RAD, but exposes the video on live TV anyway when Brett breaks up with her. Bekka ends up sabotaging the NUDIs documentary by turning it into fear propaganda rather than a film to help the RADs break out into society. Afterward in the third novel she organizes anitRAD protests and does "haunted" tours of the house that the RADS used to live in.In the third book it is revealed that Bekka forced her friend to sign a contract simalar to the one Melody signed
Candace Carver
Candace is Melody's older sister. On the surface, she appears to be nothing more than a party girl and the stereotypical Beverly Hills teenager. However, Melody, in the second book remarks that Candace "defied the dumb-blond stereotype. There was no air in that head. The spinning wheels in her brain blew it all out her ears." Candace is very supportive of Melody and is happy to help her sister when she can. She, in fact, was the one to name NUDI and is a proud member, serving as the group's unofficial chauffeur without complaint. Candace was unaware that Melody is adopted until "Where There's a Wolf, There's a Way."
Ms. J
Ms. Jekyll is Jackson Jekyll's mother from the novels and currently is unmentioned in the other media. She had never told Jackson about DJ until Melody Carver reveals the truth to him via her iPhone. Ms. J used to teach at Merston High until the RADs were outed in the community and she was fired from her job. She moved to another town and kept DJ as the main personality to protect Jackson. While away, Ms. J rents her house to Marina, not knowing she is Melody's birth mother. At the end of the third novel, she is back in Salem, Oregon.
