“Cocoa Crisp” aims to fit, and does so with the precision
and finesse of a treasured family recipe for the perfect puffed pastry.
A fitted two-piece suit of warm burnt sienna rises to the occasion with
unexpected three-quarter length sleeves, tapered to the elbow, then
billowing over floral-embroidered white balloon cuffs. A sweet wisp of a
hat, fashioned of milliner’s flower petals, echoes the white of the
gloves and cuffs. Jewelry is the simplest of “diamond” earrings,
matching two sparkling broaches. A smart bag and pumps of matching brown
“leather” are the finishing touches to the drop-dead delicious
confection that is “Cocoa Crisp.”

Star Entrance
The Reel Life Collection Gift Set
Limited Edition 650 Gift Sets World Wide
Don’t wear silver lame if you’re shy, and be prepared for
every eye in the room to be following you if you do. Such is the effect
of “Star Entrance,” a military-tailored trench coat of silver lame
“leather” over a pencil-slim gown of grayed-mauve satin-backed crepe.
The belted gown’s portrait neckline plunges to a ruched bust line above
a narrow skirt, slit to the knee. The shimmering coat, worn over the
gown and matching, opera length gloves, belts tightly beneath a full
notched lapel and sports a dazzling fuchsia lining.
Shoes and bag are encased in pleated satin matching the dress, while the
jewelry is basic “diamonds” at ears and a distinctive black chrome
bracelet at the wrist. Gene comes dressed in a fitted swimsuit and
sports a sleek and stylish up-do. This very first gift set of the “Reel
Life” collection makes this a “Star Entrance” not to be missed.
“Rogue Rose” is a bittersweet confection of black
taffeta, tightly fitted with a gored bodice and topped with accents of
pink ribbon lacing beneath a heart-shaped neckline of matching pink
lace. A cleverly asymmetrical draping at the hips tapers to a narrow
column of a skirt and crushes, floor-length, around the sleekest of
black satin sandals, studded with black on black “jet” stones. A tiny
evening hat of spangled black tulle is bow-tied to a pink rose, matching
the opera-length gloves. The jewelry is a sentimental black bow at the
throat and faceted black “jet” earrings. The finishing touch is an
elegant evening bag, fan-shaped and with a wrist strap. Pink and black
have never been more alluring than “Rogue Rose.”
(Please note: Actual hair color is platinum and does not have any pink
in it).
The title says it all: “Rich Girl” – a look so sleek and
polished that privilege is the only possible explanation. A fitted black
crepe dress with tailored draping on the hips is paired with an
abbreviated jacket of “silver fox.” The silver-grey-on-black is echoed
throughout the accessories, starting at the top, with a lavishly plumed
black hat with feathers matching the fur of the jacket. Opera-length
black gloves extend the cap sleeves of the slender dress. The shoes and
clutch are black “patent leather.” Jewelry is simple: tons of “diamonds”
and “emeralds” at the ears, neckline, and wrist. Only the best for “Rich
Girl.”
The Jeweled Cat
Madra Lord Dressed Doll
24K Collection, First in a Series
Limited Edition 500 Dolls World Wide
In 1938 “The Jeweled Cat” was the perfect vehicle for
Madra Lord: an intoxicating mix of mystery, seduction, and high fashion.
In this film, bodies were dispatched with the same whimsy as hats; and
nothing was taken as seriously as the clothes worn by the stars. In more
or less the title role, Miss Lord was gowned and coiffed to the nines,
and shone like the polished jewel of the Monolithic crown that she was.
A long-sleeved, slender column of sheer metallic gold lace over satin,
‘The Jeweled Cat’ is covered with an elaborate floral pattern of
multi-colored beads and sequins. Within the twists and turns of the
story, a designer’s fortune is hidden, disguised as the decoration on
this gown. The real fortune however, lay in Madra Lord’s star power,
presented in gold-plated perfection in this ensemble. Long loupes of
multi-colored and gilded beads encircle the simple neckline, a
gold-toned cuff caresses a wrist, and a floral evening hat is spangled
and veiled above a sleek, black pageboy. Gold metallic pumps are the
beautiful hidden base for this golden idol to the fashion gods.
About the 24K Collection
“The Jeweled Cat” is the first offering of the new “24K
Collection”. Each year, one doll in the collection will be selected for
even greater attention to details reflected in the level of luxury and
workmanship exhibited. “The Jeweled Cat” will come in a distinctive gold
box and be limited to an edition of 500 dolls worldwide, no more, no
less. This year, “The Jeweled Cat” is on the prowl.
There must be some place – some time – some occasion –
beautiful enough to wear this gown: perhaps in a garden with the
moonlight reflecting in Green Eyes. A fitted bodice of silver satin is
spangled with translucent sequins beneath a sweetheart neckline ringed
with matching silver ribbon and tied with a sumptuous bow in the back.
The full layered-tulle skirt is a rainbow of pastel hues, combined to
resemble nothing so much as the fragile surface of a child’s soap
bubble. Long silver blue gloves and embroidered shoes are the details of
this ensemble, as “diamonds” at the ears and a “diamond” bracelet are
the jewelry. This dream of a dress brings the spotlight with you and
makes the moon your balloon wherever you go. Green eyes, silver moon,
perfection.

Careless Kisses
Madra Lord Dressed Doll
Limited Edition 650 Dolls World Wide
Madra Lord’s performance in “Rich Girl” as Eden Vickers
was one of the highlights of her late 1930’s film career. Madra was
given – and relished – the opportunity to play a character whose
transformation propels the story from start to finish. This costume was
entitled ‘Careless Kisses’ for obvious reasons within the plot. The
pristine cream satin gown was the perfect counterpoint to Eden’s
reckless flirtations and desperate unhappiness within her sheltered
life. Over the meticulously pleated satin pumps, an attached satin
‘apron’ covers the full underskirt of cream tulle and drapes
surprisingly lower in the front than back. The halter neckline of tulle
spangled with sequins over satin covers the bust and adds to the
uncovered, virginal tones of the dress. A small sequined evening hat is
worn off-center as both a fashion statement and character clue and
lavish ‘diamond’ and ‘gold jewelry’ sparkles at the throat and earlobes.
Long black gloves steal the show and offer a visual expression of the
contrasts within the heroine’s character as Madra emotes her way into
film legend. A fur will complete this sensational look (not shown).
