Covent Garden
Dressed Doll
"Covent Garden" is an
extravagant floor-length evening gown that floats in a dreamlike cloud
of opalescent white satin and snow white tulle. A lace-up bodice of
black velvet leads into a bow and sash train. An opera cape of rich
black velvet lined in white satin, a velvet choker with silk blossoms,
and "pearls" completes this splendid vision of a storybook heroine
arriving at the ball. Circa 1948. Designed by artist Tim Kennedy for the
Gene Marshall Collection.
